The new HP Omen may not be as slim as its predecessors but it holds features that will surely strike a clear win. The overall look of it is pretty much the same with the usual Omen red lit trademark on the back lid. The lid is, however, made of plastic but still manages the sturdiness that should be there. Talking in terms of connectivity, the laptop has ample availability for all the major connections. To start off, you can easily connect a VR headset and any other gaming setup along as well. It has 3 USB ports, one Ethernet and one port for SD card. Display and HDMI ports are also built-in. The large size of the laptop may seem like a trouble to carry but when you actually do, it fits easily and thus can be carried around as well.

The display has the game going for good. It features a 3840 x 2160 pixel panel giving amazing and true- to-life results. Watching 4K media video brings out the true beauty of it. Games like Battlefield 1 showed the finest details. One could easily see the little remains of dirt that got on the truck’s tires. SRGB Color production of 178.7 percent makes it much better than that of a possible competitor; Asus ROG Strix. G- Sync technology is what further ensures a smooth display. It syncs with the graphic cards and prevents image tearing. The brightness, however, is disappointing and takes down the screen’s striking display.

What highlights the laptop’s specifications is the presence of Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card. With the help of it, even the latest and heaviest of games can be played without any trouble or error. 4K gaming gets to a whole new level and reaches a smooth reading of 60 frames per second. Moving on, VR gaming doesn’t lag behind in any way. It sure is a VR powerhouse and scores outstanding on the performance test.

Inside is the Intel Core i7 Processor with 16 GB RAM. It will not be wrong to say that multitasking is no big deal on this powerhouse. User can enjoy watching videos while putting downloads simultaneously. You can even run a full system scan and still the laptop processing will not slow down by a single notch. Evidently, it has a transfer rate of 203.6 MB per second.

The laptop’s keyboard is backlit and the keys are more than just a great show. They are comfortable and soft to type on. The word soft is being used because they are not hard on your fingers, like usual gaming laptops. Gaming is not the sole purpose and HP considers the fact that you may even need to do some serious work sometimes. It has 1.28 mm of travel which can easily ace a typing test with 104 words per minute. What doesn’t go along the theme are in fact the very gaming expectations. The red backlighting cannot be changed and no extra pair of keys to help ace certain gaming functions. People still can work with this but in this intense competition, laptops like Dominator pro take the cake. HP should have thought deep and tried to bring all features up to the set benchmark, if not above that.

Audio system paired with Bang and Olufsen speakers ensure that users enjoy a loud and crisp sound. Gaming gets a whole lot better when you can clearly hear all the action going on. Frankly speaking, who doesn’t want to hear the bullet shells dropping and tank tires making their way around? Everyone wants to! We can very well say that HP has managed the sound department with a great offering.

The few above mentioned drawbacks aren’t big, but the one with heat and noise is sure a setback. The laptop, just after an hour’s gaming, gets to a temperature of 124 Fahrenheit which is way above the standard threshold. Not only that, the keyboard too gets to about 99 degrees hot. And to make things worse, the constant whirring noise of notebook’s fans take the whole charm away.

Nonetheless, Paklap.pk believes that the laptop is capable of offering high-end gaming in good price. Featuring Nvidia graphics card, it sure is ready to take VR gaming to a next level. Compared to its competitor brands, it still has a sleeker look. The only big No to it are the hot temps, but this wonderful mix of performance and price will surely cover that up as soon as you buy it.
