"The TVOS 10 is the latest update to Apple TV of 4 th generation; the update has brought many new features to Apple TV. Some of these are the much needed dark mode, Siri facility, updated photos and music apps.

One thing to be kept in mind is that the update is only applicable to the fourth generation Apple TV’s, since the update either involves Siri or third-party apps. The fourth-generation Apple TV already has tons of cool features, but here we will discuss just a few important tips so that you can get the most out of the latest update and make your experience worthwhile.

How to perform the update:

Firstly you need to know how to manually update your fourth-generation Apple TV to TVOS 10 to avail all its facilities. Just go to Settings> system> Software updates> Update Software.

Availing the new TVOS 10 features:

After updating, you are all set to relish the impeccable features of this masterpiece. So, let us get started!

Enabling dark mode

Say you’re watching a movie at night, once the film is finished, you want to resume the TV channels, but you don't want the sudden change of movie to TV blind you. Well, toggling between light and dark modes is now possible with the new update. Go to Settings > General > Appearance and select light or dark modes.

Using Siri to enable dark mode

If you’re as lazy as me and wish to switch between light and dark quickly, you can just avail our trusty Siri’s help. Say “light mode” or “dark mode” after pressing the Siri button. This is so much quicker than doing it manually.

A more intelligent Siri

You can now be more accurate to Siri when asking for something since the AI agent has been made better with the TVOS update. You can now ask it to show movies on a certain topic by saying something like “Show me movies on the Renaissance era,” and it will do the job.

Controlling your Smart home

With the new update, the HomeKit integration with Apple TV has been significantly modified. Now it acts more like iOS than a home kit. For example, if you press the Siri button and say “Turn off the lights” it will automate your smart home.

As fancy as it sounds, there is no complex way needed to set up Home with Apple TV. All you got to do is set up your Homekit enabled devices with the Home iOS app, and same commands that only worked from your phone previously will now cooperate with the Siri remote on Apple TV.

Access YouTube from literally anywhere

Earlier if you wanted to access YouTube you first had to open YouTube app on the TV, then you could search. Now you can look for videos on YouTube using Siri from any page. Just give Siri a command uttering; “Search Phone reviews on YouTube”. And VOILA!

It may not make a huge difference, but it does alter the experience slightly by cutting down some tedious steps.

Live feeds

As with the YouTube access, you can now jump directly to live feeds within applications instead of going to a particular channels page. Some apps like ESPN, MTV, FX have been updated to enable live streaming. Just tell Siri to watch a particular app and it will jump to it.

Automatic installation of apps

You can now enable a new feature where if you install an app on some device it will automatically install applications on your Apple TV, considering it has an Apple TV component.

Simply go to Settings > Apps > Automatically install apps and toggle it on.

This won't install the already installed apps on your iPhone or iPad, but if you want to do that you will have to go to the Purchased tab of the App store.

Photo Memories Search

Memories are the latest in the game of pictures. The section gathers you picture collections from similar locations or dates, and you can revisit them whenever you feel like it. But you have to have your iCloud Photo Library option enabled in your iCloud setting on all your iOS devices for it to sync.

Single Sign-on Feature

One of the most annoying things can be logging into each streaming app separately, what makes it even more irritable is the fact that sometimes certain apps log you out automatically, resulting in you going through the hassle of signing in again and again.

The TVOS 10 has introduced the Single Sign-on option to cater to this problem. This will allow you to enter your cable subscription details only once and you will be automatically signed into all the streaming apps you have signed up for.

Unfortunately, this feature will not be available right away and appears to be “coming soon” on the official TVOS page."
