Let’s talk about the most anticipated, awaited, and red-hot – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4000 series!

The route NVIDIA has taken in the past few years is only forwards and upwards. RTX 3000 series is better than RTX 2000 series, and RTX 4000 is expected to outrun its predecessors. So far, we know that it will pack all the smart solutions in a 5nm design.

The company is on a mission to bring Ray Tracing into everything. After the amazing response the audience has given to the RTX GPUs, NVIDIA has been working on bettering the technology and making it all the more user-friendly. Keyboards now have a separate RTX button to switch to Ray Traced graphics swiftly. A single keypress and BOOM! You can work, create, design, edit, or game with graphics that are too good to be true.

As a matter of fact, there is not much information available regarding Team Green’s GeForce RTX 4000 series on the internet. But, here we are, updating you with whatever little information we could gather regarding these next-gen GPUs.

Release Date

When should we be expecting it?

Its release was initially predicted in January 2022, but after waving February goodbye, we can safely say that it is not going to be launched in the first quarter of the year.

There is no confirmed information regarding the official release date of the concerned GPUs. However, there are some ongoing speculations of it being released by the end of September 2022, or the fourth quarter of 2022 (according to a good majority of sources and news).

Specifications and Other Speculations!

It is pretty clear that the series is already in the process of development. The news has it that it will boast a 5nm form factor as compared to the former 8nm form factor. The Lovelace GPUs will be based on Ampere Next architecture.

Did the name, Lovelace, make you jump on your seat a little bit? Let’s be honest, it is quite a unique code name. The codename of the series is confirmed, and it will be Ada Lovelace.

According to some leaks, particularly by GPUMAG, it will feature a larger number of CUDA cores, VRAM memory, as well as an upgrade from GDDR6 to GDDR6X.

With the launch of Lovelace, the shortage of GPUs in the market is also expected to end – source Techradar. Team Green has been spending huge sums on the production and stock of the next-gen series. Especially considering the shortage of 3000 series and 3000 Ti series cards, NVIDIA doesn’t want to disappoint its users. 

Plus, AMD is also expected to launch their GPU, RDNA 3 which is a high-end one, scheduled by the end of 2022. Coming out at around the same time of the year, these chips will be competing for 4000s. There is a lot of buzz about Team Red having bought Xilinx which will boost their supply and help them produce sufficient chips for the market. This is another reason why Team Green is working hard on the supply of their SKU.

The TSMC’s 5nm microarchitecture, which is also confirmed, will enable Ada Lovelace to perform better while consuming less power. This is done by packing more transistors in a smaller surface area.

In view of the speculations, there will be 7500 ± CUDA cores as compared to the GA102 (3090 and 3080 chip). These cores include GPC (Graphics Processing Clusters) and TPC (Texture Processing Clusters). Approximately twice as many GPCs, 7 to 12 ±, and 42 to 72 ± TPCs. That, by the way, is a huge leap in its features and specifications, since the Ampere chip had just 1 additional GPC compared to the Turing 102 chip.

The series will require more power including the following SKUs, as suggested by PCUMag.

While it’s not confirmed by an authentic resource, gamers and tech enthusiasts have been debating about AD102’s in-game performance. According to some, it will have a target frequency of 2.2 GHz, nearly 66 TFLOPS (FP32). While others are suggesting that it will have up to 90 TFLOPS, and a frequency of about 2.5 GHz.

Everyone agrees on the fact that it will be a huge leap from the Ampere chip. 3090 Ti, which is the most powerful one from the series, offered 40 TFLOPS.

While TFLOPS is not an accurate depiction of GPU performance, we can still say RTX 40s will give us double the performance and consume twice as much power, as its previous gen.

Price

NVIDIA 4000 series GPU would be pricier than the former gen graphics cards, and that is a given. The question is how much? We are expecting the price tag to go from 300 USD to 1000+ USD.

The pricing of AMD’s RX 6000 series is along the same lines as both the series are competing with one another.

However, TSMC’s 5nm architecture is said to be more expensive than we thought, so the prices can go up a little. While there is limited information available on the internet, which is not necessarily authentic, we have tried to gather it here for you.
