Just last week, Apple launched iPhone 7 that created abuzz in the tech market. One of the most debatable headlines it managed to make was the absence of audio jack in the upcoming phone. And now, according to some reports, Apple is now surveying the users of their notebook, MacBook Pro, with the question if they use the available audio jack or not.
There is nothing wrong with carrying out customer surveys but what exactly is the point of asking this particular question, "Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina Display?".
The news about the exclusion of audio jack in the upcoming mega powerful iPhone 7 is already buzzing around. Right after the launch, a major uproar to the news was clearly seen from the audience through various mediums.
The survey included various other questions alongside asking the users if they use audio jack with retina display on their MacBooks. Apart from that it also asked the buyers about card readers, battery life and connectivity ports to get feedback about each of the feature. That doesn't mean that Macbook Pro will no longer have an audio jack, card reader and connectivity ports. However, where there is Apple, there are rumors! So this is not unusual but rest assured that this was only a survey.
Some of the leaked designs of the upcoming Apple notebooks clearly show an audio jack at the top of the deck. Some MacBook Pro users may have worried after the release of the surveys; as using a laptop without an audio jack seems to deprive them of one of the most important features of a laptop.
However, it is highly unlikely for a company as big as Apple to take such a big step for Macbook Pro’s next model. Excluding audio jack from a mobile phone is much more different and practical than excluding it from a notebook. Laptop users do not find it inconvenient to use ports and wires, given the kind of usage that they require from them.
The Apple MacBook Pro currently features the offerings of various USB ports, Thunderbolt, Firewire and an audio jack. The probable reason Apple has released the survey is to get to know about the feedback, that they can use for further developments in the upcoming models of Macbook Pro.
The worry that the Macbook users have shown as a reaction to this news is understandable. But it must be kept in mind; Apple would not take such a huge step for its notebook line. Laptops have a much different usage than mobile phones. A change Apple thought was required for their smartphones would not necessarily affect the development of Macbook Pro versions.
