Alienware has been known for their superficial gaming laptops and gamers are always waiting for their new releases. Their recent announcement has stirred up much excitement in the air. Alienware is a computer hardware line by DELL that is recognized by their alien theme. The latest entries to their gaming series are the VR-ready laptops; Alienware 13, Alienware 15 and Alienware 17. When talking specifically from gamers’ point of view, the biggest attraction is the fact this it supports NVIDIA laptop cards. Alienware 17 will have GTX 1080, Alienware 15 will have GTX 1070, and Alienware 13 will have GTX 1060. This means that all these 3 laptops will be compatible with VR, Oculus Rift for instance.

DELL has kept the design sleek and comparatively thinner than how their previous laptops were. Having a slim laptop really increases and improves the usage of it as people can easily carry it from place to place. The cooling system on these laptops is much better and therefore makes sure that it doesn’t get heated even after prolonged use. The logo has not been totally changed but is just given a slight improvement for a new look. Face detection feature has been added with the Windows hello support that lets the user log into the laptop with just having their face detected. One major feature which is definitely worthy of praise is the eye tracking done by a Tobi camera. For Alienware 13 and Alienware 15, the camera has to be attached externally but in the 17-inch model, it comes built in. In order to log in, all that the user has to do is look at the Alienware logo and it will automatically unlock, after having detected the user’s eye. Apart from just switching on, it switches off itself too once the user looks away from the screen. This is super easy for the user to operate, so you no longer have to remember all those login passwords or even worry about creating one in the first place. Moreover, energy consumption will be reduced as the laptop will switch off itself when not in use or just go into a sleep mode, which again serves the same purpose.

The body has been built with materials like steel, aluminum and small percentage of alloys. The sturdiness of the laptops is guaranteed by DELL as they have full confidence over the quality of materials that they have used. In terms of processors inside powering the SKU, all of them support the sixth generation Intel Core i7 CPU’s. The processor is among the best ones and is known for its good speed. For gaming laptops speed is the most important thing because all the video games are usually action based and if their graphics aren’t processed fast then the whole essence of the gaming experience will go down. 15 and 17-inch models have an IPS panel display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The IPS panel is a great choice since this display is one of most famous high-end displays these days as it guarantees true representation of colors and in good brightness/contrast ratios.

When the general manager of Alienware series was asked questions, his overall answer was that gaming is increasing with time. More and more games are developed with great improvements being made in graphics and resolutions. With the introduction of Virtual Reality, these recent releases will act like a great driving force towards immersive gaming, similar to how it was 20 years back (referring to Mario and Duck hunt times).

The company hasn’t given much detail about the pricing or other specifications; as far as the release dates are concerned the 13 inch model will be available in November and the other two somewhere in October. DELL is actually doing a great job in specially targeting their gaming audience. Gamers are increasing more in number, and now with the advent of virtual reality, those who were never in gaming have started trying it with great enthusiasm. Having a laptop solely for this purpose will really boost the chances of sales and give DELL a competitive edge over the other famous brands.
