MacBook Air’s versions and upgrades have always been highly anticipated by the audience each time. However, rumors have it going that Apple might not manufacture any more versions of MacBook Air. There is a huge possibility that these rumors might be true as Apple is offering quite similar products already thus producing more MacBook Airs might seem baseless to the company.
However, currently the Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the new Macs; both Pro and Air. These new versions have been in the news for a long time now and their launch is not very far away. The competition in the market is reaching new levels with companies like Microsoft and Acer owning a big chunk of the market; especially with Acer Swift 7 and Microsoft Surface Pro. How much better or worse will the Apple Macs do in market as opposed to its competitors may also play a role in the company’s decision to utterly eliminate the famous MacBook Air series or keep it going.
MacBook Air was last updated in 2015 by Apple. That too was a surprise for the Apple users as the update only consisted of an additional memory space of 8GB and nothing more. Still, the wait for the next MacBook Air does not seem to lessen. The fans were expecting to find out some information in the recent Apple event held in September; however, turned out to be only about the launch of iPhone 7.
Some researchers and bloggers share the same view that Apple MacBook Air 2016 will be the last of its kind. This is due to the fact that the company has launched hybrids that are much more modern, convenient, have the same output results and perform exactly the same as a laptop does. This makes quite sense and probably the company would now focus solely on the production of tablets and hybrids, more specifically.
The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook shared his views regarding the importance of tablets and laptops. When asked he said, "There would be a time that consumers will not be opting for a PC anymore; the people in the future would most likely purchase tablets or smartphones." If the CEO of Apple has these thoughts, may be the rumors are true. But again, only time can tell us for sure.
