One might think that fitness trackers and smartwatches fall into somewhat the same category due to their outlook. This, however, is just a false perception and reality says something completely different. While smart watches were not successful in attracting much customers, fitness tracker was able to lead the same market. Fitbit focused on their strength and developed Fitbit Charge. Due to fast success of the product, a sequel was definitely in order. Paklap.pk expects good reviews for this gadget; meanwhile, this review will sort out its major specifications.
The new Charge 2 device has a wider display than the previous model and has a GPS system which links your smartphone to the device. The display screen was probably the highlight since now it could easily fit 4 lines of text compared to just on in Charge 1. To go in detail the four lines show date/time and heart rate along with the number of steps taken. There are stepwise breathing exercises which have been installed to help users in their daily routine. There is also a cardio fitness metric which compares the user’s fitness to those of others in the same age group and gender.
Touch system continues and the user has to touch hard to access basic display or other required statistics. Apart from this, there is also a hard press button that does the same task and brings up date, time and heart rate, etc with each press. Alarm access is also made easy with these hard buttons and one can simply change settings when alarm rings. Not just alarm, it cycles through many other options for the user’s ease.
The multi-sport support system built in the device caters to activities other than just running. Those activities include weight lifting, treadmill, workout and much more. Moving up and down stairs is considered to be a great exercise and is practiced by many. The device caters to that too and has a system in which user can set a certain step target, which is indicated once it has been achieved.
Talking about fitness, it is more of an encouragement game than will power. People who aim for fitness need to be constantly encouraged as to how good of a job they are doing. Charge 2 does that with its encouragement messages when you complete a task or just displaying some happy fireworks. Sleep recognition is also another feature that comes as an advantage. Fitness freaks like to keep track of how long they sleep every day. For this purpose, the tracker watch counts the number of hours and informs timely.
Perfection is overrated which explains why this device too has some issues. Charge 2 is good for the fact that it gives alerts for messages and shows them too. The problem, however, comes at how much of the particular message gets displayed. The message gets distorted and even less than 40 whole characters get displayed. It turns out, the message alert feature wasn’t really a help.
waterproof feature is another big issue. It doesn’t completely protect it from showers or in the rain, generally. The maximum it can work is against the user’s sweat or a medium splash of water. When users upgrade, they have to buy a new charging cable as the old one doesn’t work in any way with Charge 2. Overall, the fitness tracker gets a 4.5/5 Paklap.pk rating on both design and features.
