These are software that help your operating system communicate with your overall hardware. So, a GPU driver tells Windows and apps how to use the graphics card, the WiFi driver lets your device connect to the internet and so on.

A driver that is outdated, corrupted, poorly configured, or incompatible driver with a recent Windows update can lead to stuttering, glitches, crashes, reduced battery life, or lower-than-expected performance. 

What you need to do is keep those drivers updated, especially the graphics ones. Check for updates through Windows or macOS Update, your manufacturer’s support page, or the GPU’s official software.

Windows Updates

Windows updates play an important role in keeping your device compatible with the latest software versions. However, when Windows starts downloading or installing updates in the background, things can get messy super fast. 

Most of the time, you won’t even notice it, but while you’re gaming or working, your performance can get a bit slow. This happens due to unwelcome updates in the background.

The fix? Super simple! Just open the Windows Updates settings and set your Active Hours so that updates happen when you’re not using the device. If you’re in the middle of an important task during your usual ‘Non-Active Hours’, just pause the updates and resume them later.
