What is really going on with Linux when it comes to Microsoft and Lenovo?

The solid state driver of Lenovo Yoga 900 is locked in a proprietary RAID mode which is not compatible with the Linux install on the device - This was said by the product expert at Lenovo after a user was unable to install Linux on the laptop. However, this is not possible as nothing can block the installation of any other alternate OS on the device as the PC (signature edition) comes with Windows 10 which does not have the bloatware of vendor installed.

The reason why Linux could not be installed on the Yoga 900 along with Yoga 710 is the proprietary Lenovo Driver, which is missing from the SKU(s). Even Windows 10 will not work on these devices without the additional drivers. Lenovo has not yet provided the additional drivers for any other OS and has no plans to offer them. The company said that it requires the Linux to release the drivers so that Linux can work on Yoga 900s and Yoga 710s as the company does not block the operating system but needs the drivers to make it work to be released.

The problem here is that no company provides the drivers required to make Linux work on the devices. The vendors like Lenovo and Microsoft need to provide the drivers themselves by releasing them on sources open to the community. If they do not release their own drivers, then they need to release the hardware details along with engineering information on Linux community so that they can provide the drivers for particular devices.
