As the Samsung launched Gear S2 and S3 Classic last year, it has been in the news that the successor of Gear S2 and S3 is on its way. It has been revealed by Samsung, that the Gear S3 will have some of the same features as Gear S2, like its round display and rotating bezel. However, the watch’s design will get a revamp. When the Gear S2 watch was launched by Samsung last year, they first gave the glimpse of S2 at the Note 5/S6 Edge+ Unpacking Launch event and it was officially disclosed at IFA even after a few weeks. It is speculated that Samsung might use the same tactic again. This year’s IFA will start on 2nd of September until 7th of September. The IFA tradeshow will be held in Berlin, Germany this year. The previous watch named Gear S2 had mainly two physical buttons, which were ‘Back and Home buttons’. The buttons were located on the right side of the watch, considering if it is worn on the wrist of the left hand. The bezel of the watch Gear S2 was spinning and had 1.2-inch round display, and it used to zoom, scroll and navigate around the watch’s operating system. Samsung has developed an Android-based operating system in the Gear watches. However, Samsung also wanted third-party developers to create specific apps which can work on Tizen. It does not seem likely that the Gear S3 will have any drastic change in its operating system than its predecessors, Gear S1 and S2. Last year, Samsung launched a sport-focused version with a rubber band and a traditional timepiece with a steel build and leather band, dubbed Gear S2 Classic. The Gear S3 will have a 1.5 GB RAM, and it would also be compatible with any of the Android handset which was not available in the previous ones. It has also been rumored that Samsung might cut the size of the watch by a few millimeters, although the Gear S2 watch was 11.4 mm and it was quite convenient. However, Samsung will compete with Apple because it is rumored that Apple is also working on slimming down the design of its new watch. The built-in GPS version of the Gear S2 was also introduced by Samsung, and it also has 3G compatibility in it. The new update explains that now people will get text messages, emails, and notifications on their wrist watch. It will be a technology heaven for joggers, walkers, and cyclists who do not want to carry bulky gadgets but also wish to stay informed.
