As a kid, I remember having to wish for a technology that would let us do things simply by moving our eyes. A technology through which we will look at the fan switch and it would turn on, a technology through which we can switch the TV channels without having to move from the couch, a technology through which we can utter what we want and it presents it right in front of us, a technology through which we can do our home-works without having to calculate and memorise a whole bunch, a technology.. Well, you get my point!
The wish of getting what I want by simply uttering it has already been granted by Google Assistant, Siri and Cortana to some extent, the time is not far when all my wishes will come true.
While the news regarding Google Glass being dead and gone is already circulating, a new smart glass is ready to take its place – Radar Pace. Oakley’s Radar Pace was introduced at the CES held in Las Vegas earlier this year in a star-studded demonstration by the three times Iron Man world champion and fitness freak, Craig Alexander. He was wearing the Radar Pace during his workout, and it coached him throughout by helping him keep track of his workout and suggesting what to do next in the routine.
According to the demonstration, the glasses are activated once you utter, ”Ok Radar.” They work via two-way communication and keep you motivated throughout the workout by brief pat-on- the-back comments. Radar Pace can provide you information regarding your pace, speed, calorie count and how much more you can handle. The sensors found in the glasses include humidity and proximity sensors, gyroscope, barometer, accelerometer and detects your location.
Initially, the smart glasses will ask your age, gender, height, weight, workout routine and workout goals. It will keep record of your workout routine to guide you better and recall how far you can handle.
Intel has joined hands with Oakley to make the glasses all the more better for the user. The smart glasses consist of demountable microphones, featuring Intel’s Real Audio technology. The glasses also assist in communication with Siri, Cortana and other digital assistants. They were meant to be released on the 1rst of October, this year.
