When it comes to portability, power and premium quality MacBook is the first small sized system that comes to mind. iPad’s previous 9-inch display was in no competition with the MacBook because it was simply too small for most things. But in the latest iPad, Apple has introduced a screen size of a staggering 10.5-inches, which no doubt ups the value of iPad pro and puts it into direct competition with the MacBook.

Bigger Screen, same small size

Even though Apple has increased the screen size they have kept the same level of compactness. What Apple did was instead of increasing the overall body size to accommodate the bigger display, they simply decreased the size linings’ size of the screen, which effectively increased the screen size while keeping the body size almost the same.

It’s great for anything that you would do while using it as a hand held design because even with the bigger screen it can still comfortably fit into one hand which greatly adds to its portability, it also weighs almost the same, with less than a pound - you can carry it anywhere you want.

More storage options

Apple iPad Pro now offers more storage options, the starting model is 64 GB and costs about $649. The storage goes as high as 512GB which costs around $949.

This also increases the value of iPad because, MacBook was a clear winner in terms of storage but now with increased storage options iPad acts as a proper working laptop replacement for you, especially if you travel a lot and need to carry your system with you.

Better performance, more brightness

Apple has used the A10X Fusion Chip, and the RAM is also increased to 4GB. According to Apple, the new chips are more than 30% faster than the previous ones, the previous iPad was in no terms - slow. The new upgrade just acts as icing on the cake, because speed wise the iPad was already doing pretty well, and now with more powerful hardware it will be all the smoother.

You also get more brightness in this latest model, counting at about 600nits, it makes it great to use it at day time and where there’s strong external lighting.

More battery with ProMotion

Apple has used something called ‘ProMotion’ which automatically controls the refresh rate of your screen, this has dual purpose - it not only makes it far more responsive and fast when you’re doing something more demanding, but it can also make your battery last longer by decreasing the refresh rates, iPad gives 10 hours plus battery life, again, great if you’re travelling and need your system with you, and if you’re on a plane or vehicle and are reading an e-book or watching a movie to pass the time, then the Pro Motion can effectively reduce the refresh rates thus giving you some extra juice.

Accessories

You can also buy different optional accessories if you feel the need for them, the on screen keypad, although good enough for some casual typing, might not be very comfortable if you’re planning on typing something for long periods of time. You can buy an external key board, Apple has its own keyboard so you can look into that. There’s also a pencil available, which isn’t really a necessity unless you’re doing some drawing etc. on daily basis. But if you do opt for it then it’s great, ultra responsive and precise, which not only aids you in a drawing but can also deliver some pretty accurate taps, which you might need while playing games etc.

MacBook didn’t become obsolete, and won’t do in foreseeable future, but the new iPad pro can become the favorite choice for users who like some more portability, and if you have an iPhone then all the better, because while going somewhere you won’t have to carry separate chargers.
