The increased number of broadband users, after the launch of 3G and 4G services in Pakistan, has attracted many online services around the world to start their operations in the country. They have the current market of nearly 30 million broadband users, which will increase with time. This was the reason that attracted Netflix to Pakistan, which was providing its services in 170 cities already. Netflix started providing its services to users in Pakistan this year in January.
Paklap.pk is glad to announce that another such service iFlix is all set to start providing its services in Pakistan. This was disclosed on the newly created Facebook page of iFlix which has been specially created for this region.
So, what is iFlix?
iFlix is the competitor of Netflix which is Malaysian based. However, iFlix has an edge over Netflix as its library contains both eastern and western content. It is still to be confirmed that whether all the content will be available for Pakistan or not, as for Netflix the license agreements have limited the content available to the users in Pakistan (for the better).
iFlix will have to keep in mind a few things while targeting the Pakistani audiences. This includes:
• If iFlix will be providing limited local content, then it will have a hard time attracting customers as most of them will be the long-time users of cable TV.
• If iFlix wants to attract the users in Pakistan, then the lower prices will play a significant role in it. Lower rates might act as deciding factors which will determine the iFlix viability in the entertainment market of Pakistan.
• The third-factor iFlix needs to consider is that online payment methods like credit cards or debit cards are not common in Pakistan.
iFlix will be more successful in Pakistan if it will provide alternative payment methods which will be easy to access by the ordinary people. This will assure that the maximum number will be able to access the platform of iFlix.
iFlix should learn from the mistakes of Netflix which it made while expanding its services globally. If it does so, then it has the potential to become a very successful online entertainment service provider in Pakistan. The online streaming market in Pakistan is yet to create an impact on users in Pakistan which is why this market is wide open to the competitors of Netflix.
