Every good thing comes with a price. It sure is a treat to have all high-end applications and software installed on your Windows but that has a definite downside to it. It comes in the form of a slower PC that takes quite a few minutes to start and process normally. Many people thinking "buying a new PC is the only solution", need to know that is not true. Paklap.pk has listed some quick and easy tips that can help restore the processing speed without spending any additional money.

One of the major reasons for this slowdown is that applications start automatically when PC is turned on. To rectify this situation a series of steps should be followed. First of all, you have to click the upwards arrow that is found on the right side of the taskbar. By clicking on that, a menu of application icons will open. By right clicking on each icon, you will select the settings menu and turn off the option that asks to start automatically with Windows. This will turn off all applications, other than the necessary ones like antivirus software.

Defragging is another option in line. Defragment tool is originally Microsoft’s tool but now better defragmenters have come to let you boost the PC's performance. Programs particularly O&O Defrag and IObit’s smart defrag 5 are ideal and only these two should be used if your PC has a hard drive. For those PCs that have an SSD, these defragmenters should not be used.

Probably the most commonly used trick is the reinstalling of Windows. Every kid and adult knows this and applies it every now and then. Reinstallation gets rid of all unwanted malware, software and junk files. For versions below Windows 8, a disc would be needed but in Windows 8, it already has a refresh option. In the recovery options, you will click on “Refresh your PC without affecting your files” and then on “get started”. In this option, the files aren’t deleted. Compared to this, a more effective option would be to click “Remove everything and reinstall Windows”, which will transform it into a newly bought PC.

Outdated and older versions of applications or software are another reason why your PC may get slow. It creates a problem in starting up and shutting down windows. You can manually check updates by going into Control Panel and then look for updates. Apart from programs, drivers should also be updated at all times. For this, you can use tools like SlimDrivers or Driver Booster.

Lastly, installing better software is another way to guarantee fast PCs. It is not necessary that just the famous software are supposed to be the best ones. For instance, Pain.Net or GIMP could be installed as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop, which would take less space. These small tips are not that time consuming nor expensive, but their application can increase the PC speed to a great extent.
