Taking its gaming capabilities and adding more AI support to itself is the newly refreshed Lenovo LEGION Y9000p with AI Chip, which is now provided with Intel's latest flagship series processors that are further combined with the Nvidia RTX 4000 series graphics card.

Design

A similar design philosophy is carried over the past few iterations all thanks to its incredible rigidity and mobility. It is supported by an anodized aluminium top and plastic bottom for the chassis, which allows some premium effect. On top of that, it also boasts an excellent Legion Coldfront 5.0 cooling system which is responsible for keeping the internal components at an optimum temperature.

14th Generation Meteor Lake Processor

Giving the gaming notebook the essence of the recently released Meteor Lake Series, the Legion Y9000p powers itself with the most powerful processor offering the Intel Core i9 14900HX 14th Generation CPU. One thing to keep in mind is that this device is one of the first to fit inside the 14th-generation processors, which carries the same Raptor Lake architecture that allowed Intel to maximize the utilization of the old hardware by increasing the efficiency and the clock speeds of the unit. Which promises to deliver more stable single and multicore performance.

For the newer generation, it fits four chipsets, which are I/O, SOC, Iris Xe graphics, and the main CPU package itself. This will allow Intel to work on each domain individually which provides attention to detail to all the sectors.

Being a flagship, the unit is packed with a whopping set of 24 cores distributed into 8 performance cores alongside 16 efficiency cores, 32 threads, and a level 3 Intel Smart Cache of 32 MB. The performance cores are clocked at a base frequency of 2.2 GHz as standard allowing for its incredible single-core management in terms of games and other applications. It can also be overclocked to a maximum of 5.8 GHz, which breaks the barrier that was once considered unattainable with Intel's Turbo Boost.

They help in limiting the overall power consumption of the unit between 55 watts and 157 watts.

The LEGION Y9000p also integrates itself with the Intel® UHD Graphics for 14th Gen Intel® Processors that come with a graphical render clock frequency of 1.65 GHz this allows the unit to output 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz, and 7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz through the HDMI without assistance from the discrete GPU.

Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU

The discrete GPU fitted is the extremely popular Nvidia RTX 4060 Graphics Card that comes configured with a GDDR6 graphical memory setup that boasts a capacity of 8 GB. Enabling games to take full advantage of the processing it packs which promises to deliver a stable frame rate across all the modern-day AAA titles. Memory and Storage

The setup is configured with a DDR5 memory stick with a capacity of 16 GB that is clocked at a rate of 5600 MT/s in a single channel, which allows for an uninterrupted multitasking and single-core computing experience. As the CPU is capable of handling dual-channel memory configuration Lenovo offers an extra DDR5 slot which can be upgraded later in the future to take full advantage of the setup.

The storage setup is boarded with a PCIe Gen 4x4.0 2280 NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive with a capacity of 1 TB which delivers excellent performance in terms of reading and writing data on and from it respectively. Respecting the upgradeability aspect it also offers an extra Gen 4 slot which can also be accommodated later. 

Display

The screen fitted to the LEGION Y9000p is a huge 16-inch IPS panel that provides a resolution of WQXGA at 2560 x 1600, which reaches a maximum brightness of 500 nits which is more than past iterations which means it will be a lot easier to work in difficult conditions. The Anti-glare surface allows it to reject light to minimize reflections. Providing 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 space ensures its usability for color-accurate applications. High Gaming Performance is delivered due to it having a refresh rate of 240Hz, while also providing support for DisplayHDR™ 400, Dolby® Vision™, G-SYNC®, and Low Blue Light for safe eyesight. 

Battery

The included 80 Wh battery which is responsible for all of the power delivery in the mobile state is recharged with the included 300-Watt Slim Tip AC Adapter.

Keyboard and Trackpad

It comes with a full-size Backlit Keyboard that provides a tactile typing experience, which is then complemented by the Buttonless Mylar® surface multi-touch touchpad with multigesture support.
