If you’re one of those users who got the free update to Windows 10 from previous versions of your software and you saw this error while applying the latest update “Windows 10 is no longer supported on this PC: Please uninstall this app now because it isn’t compatible with Windows 10”, then there’s bad news for you.

You’re are one of those unfortunate system owners whose systems the latest software officially supported and they could update them easily, but now their systems are no longer supported due to hardware incompatibility with those devices. This happened after Microsoft launched the official Creator Update version 1703 in March 2017.

Reasons

This happened to those users of Windows 10 who had Intel’s Atom Clover series processors in their systems, which was usually the case with 2 in 1 or hybrid laptops. Those usually are the ones having the very first editions of windows 8 and 8.1, about 3,4 years old. As mentioned earlier, Clover Tail series processors are not supported, particularly these processors aren’t supported: Atom Z2760, Atom Z2520, Atom Z2560, Atom Z2580.

However, the exact reason for this problem is not yet known, or at least Microsoft or Intel haven’t said anything about it officially.

Solutions

Unfortunately, there haven’t been any possible remedies being released by Microsoft.

If you have already updated your system to the Creators update despite the incompatibility, then you will likely face instability and other problems like missing icons colors etc. Till an official patch or driver is released by either Microsoft or Intel there’s nothing the users can do, and their systems would be stuck at the last update, 1607. If you’re not a user of Windows 10 and you are planning on upgrading to it you should first check with your manufacturer if Windows 10 is officially supported on your system or not.

There are possibly millions of devices based on the Atom Clover series processors, they were originally made for Windows 8 and 8.1. But Microsoft didn’t really check the incompatibility before this incident, and pushed their updates to those devices as well, ensuring them a life time free update. But now those devices are no longer supported and without any warning.

It is possible that they will possibly release some drivers or Intel might release patches to solve this issue, users can hope that they do and Microsoft should really look at this issue because if it started happening with more devices than they would seriously lose credibility.
