Dell Inspiron was an exclusive product line launched by Dell that dealt with laptop computers. There was the famous Inspiron “3000”, “5000” and “7000” series, but other than that multiple products were manufactured under this name. The latest model in the line, 13 7000 2-in-1, has undoubtedly stood up to the reputation that Dell has of making machines.

The 13-inch laptop with a 256 GB SSD drive looks pretty much attractive when we explore the details. So what has Dell added and what have they retained? The two features that were a must-have were obviously continued in this new model as well, the touch screen and the 360 rotation.

Full HD touch screen has been on the rise from right when the technology was introduced on laptops, and it is definitely easier to work with, plus it gives the users more flexibility. Coming to the rotating hinge, it has given people an entirely new line of action, making everything smoother. Everything that traditional laptop can do gets enhanced with the 2-in-1 feature. The response was overwhelming with Dell’s previous model and they have been acute with their decision of retaining these.

Starting on with the additions now, it has 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU, 8 GB RAM and Windows 10 running as its OS. Dell has kept the outlook simple yet high-class in its own way. You will find the laptop in a metallic silver color that alone speaks for its idiosyncrasy along with the aluminum coat. The look gets completed with Dell’s fine logo on the lid. To me, the outlook of a laptop plays a big role. Dell here has kept it engaging and attractive without overdoing anything.

When you open it the astounding display catches the eye. The 13.3-inch screen with 1080p resolution gives well-defined results. Watching an action movie would be great on this, you will get a good view of the tiniest of details. The problem arises with the colors that seem to be washed out at some places and fail to complement the resolution. Since Inspiron aren’t the only 2-in-1 laptops out in the market, one feels bound to make a comparison. The brightness, for instance, is so low with 244 units that it falls below other “7000” laptops in its family, and even outside, like Yoga and Spectre. A fine average for Delta E color accuracy is 3.59 but Dell has surpassed way above the average with 0.45, however with a little more effort they could have achieved the perfect score of 0 too. Nonetheless, good job!

People are always struggling to find ports in laptops to attach their USBs or other wireless connections. Dell’s customers will surely be satisfied with the diversity of ports on Inspiron 13 7000. The left side has type-C, display, USB 3.0 and charging port whereas the other side has USB 2.0, S.D card and Noble lock slot. Again, a very user-friendly device.

Despite having a touch screen, the effectiveness of the keyboard still needs to be on point. The best way to test the keyboard is to take online typing tests. Inspiron keyboard, after the test, gave a speed of 110 words per minute which is a satisfactory result. There is a possibility though that some users might find it uncomfortable to type, which increases chances of error. Reason being, the keyboard situated at a greater distance from the bottom line. The touchpad measures 4.1 by 2.6 inch and has the appropriate texture to move fingers on, not too smooth nor too rough.

Audio is a little bit troubled when we compare it to the other laptops. Having bass is good, but too much of it makes it difficult to differentiate between other tunes or instruments being played. Such was the case with Dell. The four unique positions of the laptop too held some effect on the audio and turned out, the tent mode results in a slightly disrupted sound.

Processing speed, however, takes the lead. It can easily manage multiple tabs on internet browser and has a swift rate of 154.2 megabytes per second. This high performance is what customers are usually looking for when buying laptops.

Battery life could be a little disappointing because it is below than what the average time is for other competing brands. This, of course, is an issue, especially here in Pakistan where one is never sure of when electricity waves its routine goodbye.

Webcams, which have now become a usual feature of laptops, give pretty much the same result. Likewise, 13 7000 has a 720p that gives an average result with little details. People don’t expect these webcams to produce outstanding photos because they all have their phones for it.

Starting from a price of $750, Paklap.pk will soon make Inspiron 13 7000 available for the customers. On an ending note, this laptop is not a bad option if we evaluate it as a whole package. Sure it has its cons, but if you buy a laptop that eliminates them then that would be at a much higher price. So, logically speaking one can easily find a happy medium and enjoy their Dell experience.
