"Apple’s Watches are one of the most successful brands of smartwatches and is the only wearable item on the company’s long-list of devices. Till now, two iWatches have been released: Apple Watch and Apple Watch Series 2. Both of them are mostly similar to each other, with same rectangular faces and features that are almost the same. Their rectangular faces feel as if the iPhone was shrunk down to fit on the wrist. This makes them quite different from typical watches. But all this is about to change.

Patents released by Apple this Thursday show that it plans that the next watch could have a circular face. This is not new since Samsung and Huawei both use circular faces for their watches but users are waiting to see how innovative Apple can be in designing a watch that is similar, yet different from others.

This patent is from June 2015, even before the release of Apple Watch Series 2. When it was actually released, it did not have many innovative features let alone a circular design. So, it is quite unsure if Apple will actually follow this design in the next watch. It is already known for patenting and then rejecting all kinds of ideas.

In case that Apple follows the circular design published in the patent, it will have to alter the case and components of the watch. This might be beneficial to the company for the current year has seen a decline in the smartwatch sales. Being the leaders of this sector of the markets, Apple’s designs need much more attention. Changes in design have also included working with Nike and Hermes.

There is just a fifty-fifty percent chance that the next watch will have a circular display. With that, one must keep hopes up for this pioneer in smartwatches."
