These days you can find a new gaming system launched by different manufacturers, almost on a daily basis. There is a strong competition going on between each of them to see who creates a more powerful system. Asus is also in this competition with its range of gaming systems, the latest addition is a 15-inch laptop which is named Zephyrus; after a Greek God.

The name only can tell you a lot about how it would be performance wise, it is powered by an Intel i7 Quad-Core Processor and a strong GeForce GTX 1080 GPU by Nvidia, It is expected to have 16GB of RAM as well.

The best thing about it is that it has a slim design, nothing like the conventional bulky type gaming systems, Asus effectively incorporated a powerful CPU and GPU without increasing the size, it is also light weight compared to other systems of the same specs (weighs about 5 pounds). With 17.9mm thickness, so much power was sure to create some serious heat, so Asus decided to add a cool new way to cool down their Zephyrus.

An interesting way of staying cool

Since, with a slim design, bigger fans and vents couldn’t be installed. The makers of Zephyrus thought why not use the whole bottom lid as a vent!

So, as soon as you open the lid - the bottom panel opens up at back allowing all the heat to go out, effectively cooling down the system. Although its is a pretty neat idea, a single vent couldn’t do what the entire opening in bottom does, the opening makes the Zephyrus somewhat weak, for instance in case of an accidental fall it could be easily broken, not mention the dust accumulation that will happen on all the important parts, nevertheless, it does serves the purpose of cooling the system.

Powerful Hardware

A latest 7th Generation Intel Core i7 Processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 makes the perfect combination when it comes to gaming. Asus Zephyrus, despite its smaller design doesn’t compromise on performance, you can play the latest games with high graphics settings, thanks to the GeForce GTX 1080 which has a dedicated memory of 8GB, the 2.4Ghz Core i7 processor handles every thing from your little everyday tasks likes sending an email to playing a latest heavy game.

A high amount of RAM (16GB) also helps speed things up, so you don’t feel the dreaded lag while gaming; storage is 512GB SSD.

Track Pad or Numeric Keypad

Asus took a rather bold step by skipping on a hardware numeric keypad and instead they placed track pad on the right side of the keypad, which can act as a numeric keypad by touching a button. This might be hard for users to get used to because of the odd location of track pad as well as an unconventional numeric keypad.

Asus priced this gaming system – Zephyrus - at $2700, there is actually not many options available when it comes to a gaming laptop that has a slim design and powerful hardware like Zephyrus has.

It will be soon available in our Asus Rog Series.
